About me!
Josie LaTorres (she/her) is a non-AEA latine performance artist currently based out of Allentown, PA, where she lives with her parents, younger sister, and beloved dog Ruby. She is a 2022 graduate from DeSales University in Center Valley, PA, with a B.A. in Theatre with a concentration in Musical Theatre and a minor in Business.
As far back as she can remember, Josie has loved to perform, taking every opportunity she could to, whether that was on the sidewalk in front of her house for cars passing on the street, in an orchestra or choir, a dance concert, or onstage in a theatrical production. It is hard for her to imagine a life without performance.
Offstage, Josie is very passionate about travel and language learning (currently practicing Spanish and Korean). More often than not, you can find her listening to music in multitudes of languages and trying to master their pronunciation. One of Josie's favorite hobbies is translating songs into English while staying as close to the original meanings as possible yet still rhythmically fitting in a song. This creatively combines her love for music and language. Check out some of her translations and covers here!
As a performer, Josie hopes to combine these passions by getting to travel and perform. As a performer of color, Josie believes in the impact of representation and dreams of being able to bring the art and joy of theatre to underprivileged and under-represented communities through the connective power of culture and language.
